My daughter is almost four and has had infant reflux (make that reflux disease) since her birth. When she was born she spent the first three months refusing to eat, eventually needing an NG tube for nutrition. She threw up, choked, gagged, stopped breathing (and still does this)...you name it. To date, she has never eaten and is 100% J-tube fed. We have been through it all.
Nothing the doctors suggested helped her. I began my own research and created a website (http://www.infantrefluxdisease.com) about her to raise awareness for this disease. Over the years it has grown into one of the best sources for information on reflux and GERD on the internet, most recently with new message boards and a journal added.
I don't claim to have any miracle cures, because for many their aren't any, but while reading about Shae-Lynne you will realize, most importantly that you are not alone. Even if your child isn't as severe as Shae, it's an exhausting, frustrating, and heartbreaking ailment for everyone involved. Also within the site you can learn what reflux is, the difference between reflux and GERD, it's causes, symptoms, and treatments. I also have many links to other great sites for information and support.
Most recently I have finished a book on the subject (Life on the Reflux Roller Coaster - http://www.infant-reflux.com) with a portion of the proceeds going to PAGER (Pediatric/Adolescent Gastro Esophageal Reflux Association - www.reflux.org). As well, there is another book coming out by fellow PAGER members within the next month or two, visit the PAGER website for info on that book as I can't remember the name of it. They are also donating a portion of their proceeds to PAGER.
I hope that this information helps at least one person to not go through what we went through when Shae was born.
