My daughter had congenital cataract. She had intraocular lens implant at 8 months old. She is now 7 years old. We "patched" her eye for 5 1/2 years anywhere from 3-6 hours each day. For the past 1 1/2 years we have been using Atropine eye drops instead of the patch, which makes the good eye fuzzy and forces the brain to use the operated eye. Results have been good. She's now around 20/50. She still sees the pediatric ophthalmologist every 3 months. It has been a long, tough road. But every bit of it will be worth it for your child.
