I have the same problem. It seems to be also hereditary as both my dad and sister have it, but since they quit smoking it has seemed to ease to a point where it rarely occurs. I smoke as well, but also think that being genetic in its cause we can't actually get rid of it but rather like having high cholestrol is to control it by having a healthy fat free diet, frequent exercise and also reducing your stress levels(a common and frequent cause)with a reduction of alcohol and coffee can reduce the discharge and frequency it occurs. It can also can be triggered by natural causes like excessive exposure to the sun. Wear sunglasses that are UV protected - it helps alot when I am out playing sport.
I Gave up coffee, fatty foods and began exercising more frequently and that helped reduce the discharge to a point that it rarely appears. I hope this helps as the triggers may vary from person to person. Find out what you eat or drink prior to an excessive discharge and eliminate that from your diet.
