obvious thought would be a potential LATEX ALLERGY -- can be as simple as loss of sensation, burning sensation, bumps, or rash.
Try non-latex condoms like the Avanti by Durex - it is a non-latex that still offers some protection from STD's. (Natural condoms like lambskin will not protect against the spread of STD's)
Also, consider finding a good lubricant as they are not created equal. Remember to make sure it is compatable with condoms - no oil based lube. Silicone based is smooth and lasts quite a while, but cleanup is more dificult (soap+water shower) and silicone lube cannot be used with silicone toys (disaster for your toy -- will imediately begin to degrade). Water based is also good; easy cleanup, closer to natural (try Devine No. 9 -- FreddyandEddy.com carries it). Water based may requre more frequent applications.
Recomended Reading: Sex Toys 101 by Venning and Cavanah Great book and covers the basics everyone should know: anatomy, communication, lube, toys, kink, and condoms.
