I have had familar tremors since I first recognized problems at 21 and was diagnosed some years later, I am 55 years old now. Basically, as far as I know essential tremors and familar tremors are the same. I believe your writing hand is worse-affected. I am now on Toprol XL for high blood pressure which is a beta blocker and is also helping some with the tremors. Mostly I get tremors when I write or am particularly anxious. Are you on anything for the problem? My daugher is in her first year med school and worries she might get this infliction, hopefully she won't.
