my 5 month old nephew developed nasal congestion and a cough which lasted over one month without a fever. His pediatrician put him on Amoxicillin. Within one day he developed red non raised spots on his trunk. His head turned bright red as if sunburned. He also developed a fever of 103. The rash was intermittent. The pediatrician saw him again. She saw the red spots and said it was something viral. He is still on the antibiotics to finish the course. (just in case there is a bacterial component to his illness) Does anyone know of this happening? Is there a name for this virus? I am just wondering if something should be done about it? Could it be an allergic reaction to the Amoxicillin? I welcome any comments.
