For the past 2 1/2 years I have been having these episodes about every 3 months. It starts in my mid to lower back. Feels like I have been had with a baseball bat hit me or having labor contractions in my back. Then, the pain starts to radiate around to my front on both sides just under my rib cage. A finally it settles in just under my right rib cage towards to middle of my sternum. This usually last 3-4 days and after wards I feel like my stomach is terribly brusied. Viberation from walking would even be uncomfortable. I had taken numerous trips to the ER and was told gastritis. I had a gall bladder utlrasound. Finally my GYN told me it sounded like my gall bladder and sent me to a surgeon. The surgeon explained that blood test and ultrasounds won't always show gall bladder problems and sent me for another test involving dye which is hard to get for some reason. Well I got the test and finally an answer. I was told that gallbladders usually have an output of 75%, it seemed my was only putting out at 20%. The test wasn't bad, only about 2 minutes of feeling like I was having a one of my attacks and the feeling of dirreahea coming on. On 12/27/02. I had my gall bladder removed. I was told that I did not have gall stones, but that my gall bladder was sandy and it was confirmed it was diseased. It's now a week later and I am feeling pretty good. I havn't had the reflux near as bad as what I used to get which was every night. I have only had 1 episode since the surgery. I do seem to burp alot more and I have a loose BM every day which comes on very quickly. Other than that and the soreness from the 4 incisions I feel really good and in a sense really angry that the hospitals just rely on bloodwork and ultrasounds to eliminate gall bladder attacks. From what I understand from most of the people I have spoken with, their gall bladder problems were initially ruled out by blood work and ultrasounds, until finally surgery would be performed and stones would be the result. My cousin had the same problem as I was having and used a home remedy that helped to pass the stones which she took to her doctor to prove that what her problem. She too is doing wonderful now. If you are having problems and your doctor has ruled out gall bladder problems from bloodwork or ultrasounds, insist that he request the dye test. Good luck to you all.
