I believe in prevention and natural control of reflux than taking any medications. Avoiding eating a couple of hours before bed time, drinking plenty of water during the day and avoiding consumption soda does help. Some fruits and vegitables can cause reflux too and you can determine that by how your body reats to those fruits and vegitables. Reducing the consumption of these fruits etc and increasing the intake of fruits/veggies that suit your body will help too. Unnecessary snacking of chips and other stuff like that should be avioded at all costs...
