I have a similar problem. When I walk, I get "itchy legs" primarily on my calves and thighs. I had one doctor equate it to exercise induced asthma whereby the vessels in the extremities constrict. Several years ago when I met with this doctor he prescribed Claritin to me. It works wonders. I take it a couple hours before I go walking, hiking, etc and do not have any itching.
The great news now is that Claritin is over-the-counter. I'm not sure if there are different types of Claritin, but look for the 10mg 24-hour type.
