Mysterious Rash

For 3 days I've had a slowly spreading red, itchy rash about midway between my breast and underarm. It started with 3 or 4 little bumps in a cluster that I thought might be a bite of some kind, and now is nearly the size of the palm of my hand. It's irregularly shaped, lumpy, red, itchy, is far enough away from the "deodorant zone" to be caused by that, and 1% cortisone cream several times a day has not curbed it. Any ideas?
